In August 2023 the College announced current or future sale or lease of several buildings as part of its rescaling plan, including the Children's Center at East Limestone and Corry, the Sontag-Fels building, West Hall, and the Kettering Building. The Antioch Student Union building was sold in mid-2024, with the new owner intending to demolish it to build twin apartment structures four stories high with 128 total units, and with the same developer as of March 2025 having the Kettering building under contract for conversion into forty-three 55-and-older residential apartments, and Sontag-Fels under contract to be razed for additional apartments. Despite Antioch's fundraising and cost-cutting, it was announced in early February, 2025 that the Higher Learning Commission had assigned a "financial distress designation" to the college, after a 2023 audit raised "substantial doubt about its ability to continue as a going concern."
