Since inception in 1968 over 13,500 teacher training students have gained qualified teacher status or the equivalent.
The university awards postgraduate research degrees (MPhil and PhD) in affiliation with Liverpool Hope University.
In 2014, the university was awarded £1.8 million to establish the Science and Religion: Exploring the Spectrum Centre. The university secured another tranche of funding from HEFCE to explore innovation in the Higher Education sector.
