Moab committed up to $75,000 per year, from 2012 to 2021, to promote the development of the campus. Degrees specific to the community's needs, including social work and recreation resource management, were planned and now provided on the new campus. Since its opening, USU has had a growing presence in Moab, showing a 15.8% growth in enrollment from 2022 to 2023.

Started in 1914, Utah State University Cooperative Extension, referred to simply as Extension, provides research-based, unbiased information to communities through their county offices and is an integral part of a land-grant institution.
