As of 2010, Barnard does not fully recognize the National Panhellenic Conference sororities at Columbia, despite it being home to the Alpha chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi which was founded at Barnard in 1897, but it does provide some funding to account for Barnard students living in Columbia housing through these organizations.
