Barnard's faculty members Nara Milanich, professor of history, and Severin Fowles, professor of anthropology and American studies, served as mediators between the protesters and the administration. The sit-in lasted for over six hours before an agreement was reached to disperse, with a private meeting between the protesters and administrators scheduled for the following day. In July, Barnard College settled its lawsuit Students Against Antisemitism, Inc. et al v. The Trustees of Columbia University in the City of New York et al which accused Barnard of not taking enough measures to combat campus antisemitism.
