Constructed in 1962, Wubben Hall houses the university's various math and science programs, including the Department of Biological Sciences, the Department of Physical & Environmental Sciences, and the Department of Mathematics & Statistics. In 2010, the three-story, 31,900 square feet (2,960 m2) science center was added to the hall to make room for more classrooms and research spaces. The hall is named for Dr. Horace J. Wubben, CMU's second president.
