Starting in 2004, the medical programs in the Caribbean ceased to be accredited by the United Kingdom-based General Medical Council as the UK focused more on integration with Europe. UWI was a key player in the establishment of the Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Education in Medicine and other Health Professions (CAAM-HP).
