== Board of trustees ==
CUA was founded by the nation's bishops and they continue to have a presence on the board of trustees. There are 48 elected members and the bylaws stipulate that 24 must be clerics, 18 of whom must be members of the bishops' conference. Of the 51 total trustees (including the university president), 24 are bishops (including seven cardinals). In addition, there is one religious sister and two priests.
