The case was settled in 1975 with an agreement that the university would establish a task force to investigate bias against women at the university and to revise its anti-nepotism policy so as to not discriminate against the wives of university employees. Bill Wade, a gay male student, was elected homecoming princess using the name "Billie Dahhling" in 1980.
