The Indiana University School of Informatics was established in 1999 as the first of its kind in the U.S. In 2005, the Department of Computer Science moved into the school, prompting a name change to the "School of Informatics and Computing". In 2016, the school expanded further with the creation of the Department of Intelligent Systems Engineering and was renamed to the "School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering" (SICE).
