In October 2023, Polychlorinated biphenyl was detected in Poe Hall. NCSU closed Poe Hall the next month. The Campus Community Alliance for Environmental Justice, a student-led coalition, was formed to petition the college to test for environmental contaminants in all campus buildings and increase transparency surrounding Poe Hall.
