Research interests of the Center include Advanced Imaging, Aging, ALS, Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia, Models of Injury and Disease, Blood Diseases, Brain Injury, Cancer, Cardiovascular Diseases, Diabetes, Drug Discovery, Environmental Health, Eye Diseases, Medical Robotics, Musculoskeletal Diseases, Nervous System diseases, Non-Invasive Imaging, Obesity, Parkinson's Disease, Stem Cell Therapy, Stroke, Tissue Regeneration and Repair, and Toxicology. One example of the results of Center research is a new drug that is the first neural stem cell therapy that targets brain inflammation of ischemic stroke patients that will enter clinical trials having been cleared by the Food and Drug Administration. In addition, the Center faculty educates national and international researchers, as well as graduate and undergraduate students.
