LDU辩手还定期参加牛津大学和剑桥大学主办的辩论赛，并于2013年连续赢得布达佩斯第四届和维也纳第四届比赛的冠军。在国内，LDU也连续四年荣获东北高校辩论赛冠军称号。该项目目前在英国议会辩论全球顶尖学校中排名第七，是榜单上排名第三的美国大学，仅次于耶鲁大学和康奈尔大学。它鼓励所有感兴趣的 UVM 学生参与，并赞助 UVM 和伯灵顿社区的公开辩论。阿尔弗雷德·C·斯奈德 (Alfred C. Snider) 执教 LDU 三十多年，是世界上获得荣誉最多的辩论教练之一。他还指导国家演讲和辩论组织的全国高中辩论队参加世界锦标赛。
