Washington State University is a member of the Pac-12 Conference. During the Pac-12's de facto hiatus from 2024 to 2026, most WSU sports compete in the West Coast Conference. Baseball and women's swimming & diving compete in the Mountain West Conference. Men's and women's indoor track & field, which the Pac-12 did not sponsor before its 2024 collapse, compete in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. The school's mascot is "Butch T. Cougar" and the school's colors are crimson and gray. Varsity athletics include men's baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, and track and field, as well as women's basketball, cross country, golf, rowing, soccer, swimming, volleyball, tennis, and track and field.
